Why is it that we can so easily say that the choice we didn’t take would have been better?

Perhaps it is simply the work of thought, a kind of illusion created by it.

The assumption that there was clearly a better future than the one we have now.

Maybe it’s a form of comfort.

Because it allows us to avoid facing this very moment.

But if it is all just something thought creates on its own, then there is no need to blame ourselves.

We can simply notice, “Ah, that’s how it works,” and let it pass lightly.

Like bringing an umbrella outside and thinking that’s why the rain stopped.

Or perhaps the other way around.

Either way, it doesn’t really matter.
