I tend to keep a certain distance from spirituality that conveniently favors the self.
Perhaps it comes from a feeling that if someone says something in a way that leaves no room for reply, then that feels a little unfair.
The massage therapist who regularly takes care of my body seems to have a somewhat mysterious ability. Yet perhaps because he understands my personality and temperament, he rarely speaks about such things.
Still, as my surgery and hospitalization approach, he shared a few metaphors to help my mind stay a little more positive.
What I appreciate in moments like that is not the mysterious phenomena themselves, but the kindness and intention behind his words.
There is no need to fix the Earth or the universe. It may simply be enough to direct a little care toward oneself and toward the person who happens to be in front of us.
